Doing some light work on the Cranberry Christmas tree

Cranberry Small Business Association President Josh Scrivens connects a strand of Christmas lights to a rope to be pulled up to the top of the tree.

Christmas lights began to be draped over the Cranberry Township community Christmas tree on Monday. The evergreen was set in place in front of the municipal building on Saturday.

Members of the Cranberry Small Business Association, which chipped in on the lights last year, added even more this year for the holiday season.

According to association President Josh Scrivens, the group uses a range of different types of lights and runs them up and down the length of the tree with help from the township’s bucket truck.

Afterward, larger colored lights are run around the tree to hold everything tight, a process that was planned to completed by the end of the day depending on weather.

The tree will be officially lit during Cranberry’s second annual Light-up Night at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 by the Fox family, who donated the tree.
