Drake Well fundraiser race scheduled for May

From staff reports

Friends of Drake Well is hosting a fundraiser race Saturday, May 21, at Oil Creek State Park.

The “Meet-U in 5 and a Half Trail Races” has transformed into this year’s “Oil Creek 5 & 13 Stacked Trail Races.”

The new stacked races will be staged 90 minutes apart, giving participants the option to run in both races.

The five-mile race begins at 7 a.m., with a strict 90-minute cutoff for runners participating in both races. Participants must be 13 years old or older to run.

The 13-mile race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants in this race must be 16 or older.

Registration for the five-mile race is open from 6 to 6:45 a.m. at Drake Well Museum. Registration for the 13-mile race is open from 7 to 8:15 a.m. at the museum.

Finisher’s awards will be given to participants who finish one or both races.

An award will be given for the fastest runner to complete both races.

Post-race refreshments and snacks will be provided to all participants.

Friends of Drake Well is partnering with the Titusville Area Trails Association to collectively raise funds to make improvements to the visibility and safety of trail users to Drake Well Museum and the Queen City Trail crossing at the Jersey Bridge Trail Head on Drake Well Road.

Registration for the event is now open and can be found at www.drakewell.org/events/trailraces.
