Franklin Blues & BBQ scholarships awarded to local students

Franklin Area High School seniors Gaby Laderer and Madi Stewart were each awarded $2,000 scholarships by the Franklin Blues and Barbecue Festival Committee during the festival on June 14. The scholarships, given in memory of festival founding member Carl Wible, support students pursuing careers in music and highlight the festival’s ongoing commitment to local music education. Laderer, who will attend Slippery Rock University, was active in multiple choral groups and music festivals throughout high school. Stewart, who plans to study at Mercyhurst University, played trombone in several school bands and participated in honors band festivals.
