Erie Philharmonic to perform in Oil City

From staff reports

The Erie Philharmonic will perform a public concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Trinity United Methodist Church in Oil City.

The concert will feature concertmaster Ken Johnston and an all-star lineup of Erie Philharmonic musicians with an exclusive performance of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 and other works by Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi.

“We are excited for this unique opportunity to bring a special performance of exceptional classical music to our community,” said Kathy Bailey, manager of the Oil City Main Street Program, which is facilitating the local concert.

Tickets for the event cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

Tickets are on sale at the Transit Art Gallery & Gifts in the lower level of the National Transit Building, 206 Seneca St., and at the Oil City Library. They also can be purchased online at the Events & News Page of www.oilcitymainstreet.org.

“We love the opportunity to perform music of this nature in such a gorgeous, intimate setting,” said Steve Weiser, executive director of the Erie Philharmonic.

“Each year, we strive to grow our Erie Philharmonic family by performing concerts outside of the Warner Theatre, bringing the powerful gift of music to communities across the region,” Weiser added. “Offering this world-class concert experience to Oil City is the embodiment of our mission to enrich, educate and entertain, and we could not be more excited.”

The performance has been made possible by multiple funders, including the Jack Rowley Trust, ARTS Oil City, the Oil City Arts Council, Take Pride in Oil City, UPMC Northwest and State Rep. R. Lee James.
