Fallen tree blocks 15th Street in Franklin

A fallen tree blocks the road and knocks over a powerline in Franklin on Wednesday evening on 15th Street.

Franklin firefighters said no one was injured when a large tree came down on the 15th Street Hill, near Buffalo Street, soon after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to one firefighter, residents heard a huge gust of wind and that’s when the tree fell across the road. It brought down three electrical wires along with three utility poles.

A Penelec worker on the scene said he didn’t expect power to return to about 100 to 200 affected customers until at least 2 or 3 a.m. Thursday.

Also responding to the scene earlier were fire departments from Utica, Polk, Rocky Grove, Sandy Creek and Oakland, according to Franklin firefighters still on the scene at about 5:30 p.m.
