Franklin man charged after tavern disturbance

From staff reports

A Franklin man has been accused of threatening patrons at a Franklin bar to the point that they were in fear for their lives.

Franklin police said Kerry Lee Switzer, Jr., 36, had been slamming drinks on the bar and punching the juke box while in a tavern on Atlantic Avenue on Feb. 22.

Police said Switzer then told patrons he was “going to shoot them all and put a gun in their mouth.” Switzer then left the bar and went to his truck where he pulled out an object that made bar patrons believe he had a gun, police said.

Police said they didn’t find a gun on Switzer or in his vehicle when they arrived on the scene.

Switzer was charged with a felony count of terroristic threats and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and harassment.

He is also facing charges in a separate case related to a traffic stop performed Feb. 25 by Franklin state police in which officers discovered an unlicensed firearm in his vehicle.

Switzer remains in the Venango County jail unable to post $15,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 11 in Central Court in the bar disturbance case.
