Franklin man facing several drug charges

A Franklin man is facing several drug charges after he allegedly admitted to facilitating the distribution of heroin.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office said Franklin police were sent to the 1400 block of Otter Street on Dec. 30 after receiving reports of a heroin overdose.

Officers found 45-year-old Anton Roberson face down and unresponsive on the upstairs bathroom floor, the complaint said.

Medical attention was provided and police observed in plain view five stamp bags of suspected heroin, a loaded hypodermic syringe, another broken syringe and other debris, the complaint said.

Roberson was found with a fresh injection site on his arm and a metal spoon was located with suspected heroin residue, the complaint said.

Roberson admitted in an interview with police that he conspired with two other people by riding with/taking them to an undisclosed location to facilitate a drug transaction that resulted in the exchange of $85 for 25 stamp bags of heroin, the complaint said.

He received no less than five bags of suspected heroin in exchange for his role, the complaint said

When police found Roberson, he had two empty stamp bags and three full bags, the complaint said.

Roberson was arraigned Thursday before Kirtland and placed in the Venango County jail after failing to post $20,000 bail.

He has been charged with one count of conspiracy – manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, one count of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.

A preliminary hearing in the case has been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
