Franklin student takes 2nd in art competition

Franklin Area High School student Makenzi Emick earned second place in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District, with winners recognized during a ceremony in Sharon. The annual bipartisan event showcases high school artwork from across the country, with first-place pieces displayed in the U.S. Capitol for nearly a year. This year’s district winner is Jeffrey Deniker from Mercer Area High School. Additional honors went to Anna Logue and Damir Trawick, both from Hickory High School. U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly praised the students, teachers, and parents for supporting local artistic talent.
