Family Fish Day was reel quality time

Despite rainy weather, families gathered at Cooperstown Pond on Saturday for the annual Family Fish Day, hosted by the Fatherhood Initiative of Family Service and Children’s Aid Society. Kids excitedly caught fish like bluegill and trout, while Program Director Stan Benvin provided bait, tackle, and equipment to participants. Around 300 people registered, with about 100 attending early, though rain and falling temperatures were expected to affect turnout. Funded by a grant from Bridge Builders and the Miese Fund, the event also featured a free cookout, making it a joyful day focused on family bonding and outdoor fun.
