Friends for Food contributions pass $11,000

An additional $1,015 has been raised for the annual Friends for Food campaign, bringing this year’s total to $11,405. The effort, a partnership between Community Services of Venango County and The Derrick/The News-Herald, helps provide Thanksgiving meals for local families in need. Donations fund turkeys and other essentials, with last year’s drive distributing 1,100 bags of food. This year’s food distribution will take place at the Rocky Grove fire hall on Saturday, Nov. 22, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until supplies run out. Recent contributions came from donors across Clarion, Franklin, Oil City, Polk, Seneca, Strattanville, and Tionesta, many given in loving memory of family and friends.
