The Friends for Food campaign has now raised a total of $10,390, with an additional $4,915 added to the effort this week. The annual fundraiser, organized by Community Services of Venango County and The Derrick/The News-Herald, provides Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Donations, which can be made through coupons in the newspaper or online, help purchase turkeys and other holiday meal items. Last year, 1,100 bags of food were distributed, and this year’s distribution is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Rocky Grove fire hall, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until supplies run out. Recent contributions came from donors across the region, many giving in memory of loved ones.
