Nifty at 90: Former Oil City mayor celebrates birthday

Barb Crudo of Oil City, who celebrated her 90th birthday on Oct. 1, has led a remarkable life marked by service and accomplishment. A lifelong resident and graduate of St. Joseph’s School, Barb worked in a variety of local businesses before making history as the first woman elected to both Oil City Council and the mayor’s office. After serving two terms as mayor, she retired to enjoy her time in Florida before returning home and once again answering the community’s call to leadership. Beyond politics, Barb was active in numerous organizations, including the Saint Joseph’s Rosary Society, Belles Lettres Club, CASA Program, and Oil City Arts Council. She has two children, Eric and Karen, and three grandchildren, and now enjoys her retirement playing bridge several days a week.
