Get on the Trail Business Contest to kick off Wednesday

From staff reports

The Oil Region Alliance of Business, Industry & Tourism’s annual Get on the Trail business plan contest seeks to award up to $5,000 to a business or individual who has an idea to provide services to nature-based outdoor recreation users in the Oil Region.

“This is a terrific opportunity for entrepreneurs to expand their businesses into the lucrative recreation market,” said John R. Phillips II, president and chief executive officer of the Oil Region Alliance.

The contest will kick off June 10 at 6:30 p.m. with a virtual event, which is free to attend. Those interested in joining the virtual event should send an email to jgorman@oilregion.org to make a reservation.

The application period for the contest will remain open until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1.

Contestants will be required to submit a concept paper along with their application. Finalists will be selected from those submitted concept papers. All finalists will be required to submit a full business plan and give a presentation to a panel of judges. Applicants should pay special attention to the judging criteria available at www.oragot.com.

Winners will be announced Dec. 3.
