Grove City College: No campus gun incident

According to Grove City College’s social media page, no evidence was found by law enforcement to confirm a report of an individual with a gun on campus over the weekend.

Police searched the campus on Sunday afternoon after someone reported an individual with a gun in the area of Henry Buhl Library, the post said.

Local law enforcement, including Grove City Borough police, Pennsylvania State Police, Mercer County Critical Incident Response Team, and Campus Safety responded immediately, according to the post.

The library was evacuated and a shelter in place was issued per Grove City College’s safety policies, the post said. Security video footage was reviewed and campus buildings were cleared.

“We have been advised by law enforcement that there have been a number of swatting incidents in the region today, the post said on Sunday. Swatting is an act in which emergency services are deceived into responding to false emergencies.

“Grove City College remains committed to the safety of all students, faculty and staff in our community,” the post said.
