Hope 21 clothing giveaway planned Saturday

From staff reports

Hope 21 Ministry is holding a clothing giveaway Saturday at Crossing Free Methodist Church in Oil City.

Hope 21 director Lisa Swartz said all the clothing the ministry has to give away — all sizes, all seasons — will be at the free giveaway which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot at 206 Wilson Ave.

A build a bag giveaway with backpacks, school supplies and hygiene items for school age children 18 and under will also be part of the event Saturday. Hope 21 received a grant from Americorps for the build a bag giveaway, Swartz said.

Hope 21 has been providing free clothing, shoes and fellowship for seven years.

Since moving out of the National Transit Building in March, Hope 21 has been looking for a new location, Swartz said.

She added that in the meantime, the donated clothing has been stored at Crossing Free Methodist Church and the ministry has responded to help people in emergency situations such as fires.
