Titusville’s annual Oil Festival had plenty to offer visitors this weekend, with games, vendors, music and other attractions all bringing people together at the birthplace of the oil industry.
Celebrations started on Friday, and one feature that proved a definite hit through the festival was the Kids Zone, which sported golf, a bounce house and inflatable slides. Dozens of children were there both days, with their parents taking photos of the merrymaking in the summer sun.
Saturday also saw the yearly parade, which had some residents and visitors setting out chairs up to two or three days in advance.
After the parade, Scheide Park’s trees offered some shade for those looking to cool off while perusing the various wares brought in by the vendors that are always a highlight for the festival.
Other highlights included the Motorcycle Cruise In, the Woodlawn Cemetery Tours, Beer Fest, an open house at the Ida Tarbell House, the Chalk Walk, the Titusville Council of Arts Fine Art Exhibit and many other fun events.
Fireworks by Gibson Fireworks capped things off on Saturday, and the festival wrapped up on Sunday with the Drake Well Museum’s Drake Day, celebrating the man who put Titusville on the map in 1859 when he struck oil.
