The memorabilia and experiences of local men and women who served in the military during World War II is the focus of a new display on the first floor of the Venango County Courthouse.
Several items that belonged to those veterans, including a pocket Bible, photo album from the ET battalion, dog tags, helmets, uniform jackets, letters, photos and other items fill the wooden display case.
Franklin resident Reed St. Clair, the intern at the Venango County Historical Society who researched and put together the display, says he is fascinated by the world wars.
Since mid-May, when he began his internship, St. Clair’s main task has been helping to audit and update the inventory of the Historical Society’s archives. His internship ends Monday, when heads back for his senior year at PennWest Clarion, where he majors in history with a minor in social media.
After graduation, he will pursue a master’s degree in library science, with a concentration in archival studies. Working as an archivist is his dream job.
