Seven-month-old Jupiter Mohnkern, held at right by her mother, McKayla, was one of the beneficiaries of this year’s League of Hope pool league funds. Also pictured are Jupiter’s father, Chris Mohnkern, and siblings 8-year-old Brycen, 6-year-old Wyatt and 2-year-old Maverick.

The League of Hope, a local charity pool league, held its annual banquet Saturday and presented $6,000 each to two families of children with serious medical conditions. Now expanded to Oil City, the Franklin-based league had 135 players and 42 sponsors this season. The recipients were the families of 7-month-old Jupiter Mohnkern, born with multiple severe birth defects, and 1-year-old Olivia Bell, who has an overgrowth condition being studied by specialists. Both families expressed deep gratitude for the support. The league’s next fundraiser, a golf scramble, is set for July 19 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.
