Man accused of choking 2 women waives hearing

From staff reports

An Emlenton man accused of choking two women at an apartment on Main Street in Emlenton earlier this month waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Michael Wade, 52, was charged with two felony counts of strangulation, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and a misdemeanor count of unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office said that around 8:25 p.m. June 17, Franklin state police were sent to 213 Main St. for a domestic violence call.

Police spoke with two women who said Wade had choked them. One of the women said Wade had restricted her breathing to the point where she had to gasp for air and fight to push him off her, the complaint said.

Wade remains in the Venango County jail. Bail was denied as Wade is considered a danger to himself and others and is unwilling to comply with any bail conditions, according to online court documents.
