Man accused of trespass, assault for repeatedly contacting woman

From staff reports

A Franklin man is facing charges for repeatedly contacting a woman at her place of employment in Sugarcreek Borough over three days and making unwanted sexual contact with her.

Sugarcreek police said in a criminal complaint that Dustin Perry, 26, went to Burger King in the borough on Saturday and told a woman who worked there that he had a crush on her. He then remained on the premises until he was asked to leave by management, according to the complaint.

Later that evening, Perry, who is a registered sex offender, returned to Burger King after calling ahead to make sure the manager wasn’t there, the complaint said. He asked to be let into the building to use the restroom and he was let in, the complaint said.

After leaving the restroom, Perry was told he needed to leave the building, but instead, he followed the woman, scaring her and causing her to cry, the complaint said. Perry was ordered outside and told to leave but he remained on the premises until 9:30 p.m. despite being told to leave many times, according to the complaint.

The next day, Perry called the woman more than 10 times between the beginning of her shift at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the complaint said. He called her “baby” and told her he loved her and missed her, the complaint said.

After finding out the manager wasn’t at the store, Perry entered Burger King, picked the woman up off the floor, and began kissing her on the mouth and touching her while she told him to stop multiple times, the complaint said.

On Monday, Perry went back to Burger King and called to see if the manager was there and if he could see the woman again, the complaint said. The manager went out to the parking lot and told him he wasn’t permitted on the property, according to the complaint.

The woman told police she was “terrified for her life and just wants this to stop,” the complaint said.

Perry has been charged with two felony counts of criminal trespass-enter structure, misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and stalking, and a summary count of harassment.

He was arraigned Monday and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19 in Central Court.
