Man already in jail charged for threatening woman

A Meadville man charged in connection with a January drug overdose death is facing new charges after police said he threatened a woman at the Venango County jail last week.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Matthew Kirtland’s office said Calvin Heath, 34, told a woman that “she is dead in the streets” and made a gesture of taking his hand and thumb and running it across his neck.

The woman told Franklin police she is in fear for her life and she believes Heath thinks she is the reason he was arrested, the complaint said.

Heath was taken into custody July 8 in Penn Hills for delivering drugs that resulted in the death of a woman around New Year’s Day.

He waived his preliminary hearing in that case last week in Central Court.

Heath is now being charged with one felony count of intimidate witness/victim – withhold testimony, one misdemeanor count of terroristic threats and one misdemeanor count of obstructing administration of law.

He remains in the Venango County jail on $250,000 bail for the original case.

No bail has been set in the second case.
