Man charged after child, 2, found in middle of road

From staff reports

A Polk man is facing charges after his 2-year-old child was found unsupervised in the middle of Route 62.

A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Andrew Fish’s office said two witnesses observed a 2-year-old child alone and naked Thursday on the roadway.

After nearly an hour, Dustin Morgan, 26, was found in his apartment passed out, with his 1-year-old child awake in her crib, the complaint said.

A bottle of alcohol was found in the bedroom with the child, and the door to the apartment was wide open, the complaint said.

No one else was home at the time, and Morgan is the father of both children, the complaint said.

Morgan is facing two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of children.

He was arraigned before Fish and placed in the Venango County jail on $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
