A $4.4 million resurfacing project on nearly 10 miles of Route 58 in Mercer and Grove City boroughs, and Findley and Pine townships in Mercer County, is scheduled to start on Monday.
The project includes 9.7 miles of Route 58 (Main St.) from the intersection with Route 19 in Mercer Borough to the intersection with Campbell Drive.
Work will start next week with tree trimming that is expected to be completed by March 31.
The remainder of the project, which includes milling and paving, cleaning and updating ditches, inlets and drainage; guide rail and ADA-compliant curb ramp upgrades, as well as roadway painting and grass planting, will get underway April 1, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by September.
Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions as well as traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.
The contractor is Shields Asphalt Paving Inc. of Valencia. The contract cost is $4,463,353.85, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
