Michigan man charged in death of infant daughter in Franklin; toxicology report identifies meth in bloodstream

A Michigan man, Noah De La Vergne, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, and drug offenses following the 2024 death of his 2-month-old daughter at a Franklin residence. First responders found the infant unresponsive, and although no injuries were observed, toxicology later revealed methamphetamine in her system. Police discovered drugs and paraphernalia in the home, which De La Vergne admitted knowing about, and the child’s mother denied any involvement or awareness. An autopsy found no medical cause of death beyond the meth exposure, which investigators say must have entered the baby’s system through ingestion, inhalation or injection. After a preliminary hearing, all charges were held for court, and De La Vergne remains in Venango County Jail without bail due to being a flight risk.
