More teachers hired on as Cranberry starts new school year

The Cranberry School Board hired three more secondary teachers Monday—Justine Zuchowski for technology and computer science, Kalynne Ziegler for physical education, and Christine Garmong for art—after hiring four others last month, ensuring the district begins the year fully staffed. Nine existing teachers were also appointed as mentors to support the newcomers. While some board members noted the loss of experienced staff, they emphasized that recent resignations reflected positive personal circumstances rather than issues within the district. In other business, officials reported student enrollment at about 1,100, food service staff completed CPR training, and repairs were approved for the junior/senior high school. The board also briefly discussed the ongoing state budget impasse and announced its next meeting for Sept. 22.
