Helen Edith Showers Drelick of Oil City, who turns 90 on Sept. 8, is being celebrated in the *Nifty at 90* series for her warmth, mentorship, and dedication to family. The oldest of seven children, Helen began working soon after graduating from Oil City High School, with jobs at W. T. Grant and Woolworth before starting a 29-year career at Bell Telephone, later Verizon, where she worked as an operator and clerk scheduler until her retirement in 1982. She married Adam L. Drelick in 1968, and together they shared 44 years of scenic drives and picnics before his passing. Known for her love of music, infectious laughter, and especially her passion for reading — often borrowing enough books from the Oil City Library to read one per day — Helen remains a beloved figure in her community and family, remembered for her kindness, joy, and vibrant spirit.
