OC man facing 244 child pornography charges

From staff reports

An Oil City man is facing 244 child pornography charges as well as other charges stemming from his involvement with an underage girl beginning in 2021.

Oil City police said in a criminal complaint they received a report Wednesday of a cell phone containing child porn.

Police interviewed a man who was trying to sell a cell phone to Jason Deeter, 31, and during the attempted transaction Deeter entered his information into the phone, but didn’t purchase it, the complaint said.

When police looked at the pornographic images on the phone, they were able to identify a girl in the photos who is now 17, the complaint said.

When police spoke with the girl she said she began to have contact with Deeter in June 2021 when he was helping with transportation and other things due to “personal reasons” in her family, according to the complaint.

The girl sent Deeter pornographic images, some of which he solicited and some he didn’t, and he sent her pornographic images as well, the complaint said.

Deeter and the girl had sex beginning in August or September of 2021 and “committed sexual acts while on video type calls” beginning when the girl was 15, the complaint said.

All of this continued into 2023 in Oil City and other locations, including in Deeter’s vehicle, the complaint said. A total of 244 pornographic images linked to Deeter were found on the phone, according to the complaint.

Deeter has been charged with 244 felony counts of child pornography as well as felony counts of statutory sexual assault-11 years older and corruption of minors-defendant age 18 or above and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault person less than 16.

He was arraigned Thursday and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
