OC native promoted to colonel in U.S. Army

Stacey E. Harring, an Oil City native and current resident of Madison, Alabama, was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army during a ceremony in Alabama.

Harring, an Oil City High School graduate, is the daughter of Tim and Susan Strus of Oil City.

She also graduated from Gannon University in Erie, where she was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps.

During her 23 years of service, Harring has served in a variety of assignments in the active and reserve components.

She is currently mobilized as the executive officer for the Chief of Staff G3, Army Materiel Command.

In her civilian career, she is a supply chain program manager for the Sentinel Program at Northrup Grumman.

Harring is an active volunteer in her community, holding leadership positions at American Legion Post 229, Girl Scout Troop 10329 and Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She is married to Col. Marcus Harring (retired). They have four children, Vince, 25, Kelsey, 23, Kevin, 15, and Hadley, 9.
