Oil City man identified as victim of Route 157 crash

From staff reports

An Oil City man has been identified as the person who was killed in a one-vehicle crash at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday on Route 157 in Cranberry Township.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh said Monday the victim was Charles Jarzenski, 42.

Rugh said the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

Franklin state police said Jarzenski was headed west in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt on Route 157 near Old Kahle Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.

Jarzenski was ejected from the vehicle and was found dead at the scene, police said.

The accident resulted in the closure of the roadway between Old Kahle Road and Horsecreek Road for several hours.

Seneca volunteer firefighters and Community Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
