Registration for kindergarten classes for the 2026-27 year in the Oil City School District will be held March 23-25.
Children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before Aug. 1 will be eligible to enroll for kindergarten.
Here are the registration dates:
Monday, March 23 — Smedley Street Elementary, 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. (814) 676-2294
Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25 — Hasson Heights Elementary, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. (814) 677-8021.
Parents are asked to call the school where their child will be registering to schedule their appointment.
Parents must present the child’s birth certificate, or proof of birth, and immunization record at the time of registration. A school nurse will help parents complete health histories for the required records.
During the registration process, the health history portion will be completed before completion of other screenings.
State law now requires each child to have completed immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, 9-day measles, 3-day measles, mumps, hepatitis B and Varicella (chickenpox).
Proof of Varicella immunization or written proof the child has had chickenpox is required.
The school district’s nursing staff will offer vision and hearing screening tests to all children who are registered at this time. This program helps detect eye disorders that occur in preschool children.
