One person seriously injured in Cranberry crash; STAT MedEvac called to scene

One person was flown from the scene by medical helicopter Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash with severe injuries shut down State Route 257 in Cranberry Township.

The crash occurred on State Route 257 at about 10:31 a.m., and Venango County 911 said Franklin state police, firefighters from Seneca and Oil City, and Community Ambulance Service responded to the scene, with Seneca Volunteer Fire Department Chief Paul Marsh confirming that STAT MedEvac was called to the scene for one individual who had been severely injured.

When the newspaper arrived, there was significant traffic backing up due to Route 257’s temporary closure, with the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department closing the section of road between its intersections with Johnstone Road and Little Egypt Road, according to Marsh.

All lanes were filled with emergency responders in the wake of the crash, and emergency personnel moved quickly to provide medical care for the individuals involved in the crash.

While the first responders worked, people that lived near the crash watched the scene from their front yards and porches.

The scene was cleared around 12 p.m., according to Marsh.
