YWCA’s Week Without Violence launches; Oil City chapter prepares to offer self-defense classes

Victoria McGraw

The Oil City YWCA kicked off the 30th annual National Week Without Violence on Monday, focusing on raising awareness about domestic abuse and offering resources to help victims safely leave dangerous situations. Victoria McGraw of the YWCA prepared an information packet full of tools and encouragement for those experiencing abuse, available all week at the YWCA. McGraw, a certified instructor and former Army veteran, is also planning to launch self-defense classes in January 2026, sponsored by Freedom Northwest PA. She hopes the classes will empower women to protect themselves and build confidence, emphasizing that strength isn’t just physical. Class dates will be announced soon, and McGraw can be reached at 814-676-6528 for more information.
