An investigation is ongoing into Monday’s fire at Main Street Market in Polk, which thankfully resulted in no injuries. Polk Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tom Sherman said the fire began in the apartment above the market, where firefighters rescued a resident trapped by heavy smoke. Sherman was first on the scene and coordinated the response as crews from multiple departments arrived to help. While fire damage to the business was limited, the building sustained significant smoke and water damage. Firefighters later entered the market to protect merchandise with tarps and remained on site for several hours to ensure the blaze was fully out.
