Police say drugs, $4,000 found in Franklin apartment

A Franklin man is facing charges after 400 grams of methamphetamine as well as other drugs and $4,000 were found in his apartment, according to Franklin city police.

On Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m., police responded to an apartment on Liberty Street at the request of Probation and Parole officers, who had found drugs and drug paraphernalia while conducting a visit to Jose Rivera, 59, according to a criminal complaint filed by police.

After observing a baggie of marijuana, various sorts of drug paraphernalia and pills as well as money, police applied for a search warrant for Rivera’s apartment, the complaint said.

During the search, police found 400 grams of meth as well as heroin, crack cocaine, and powder cocaine, three cellphones, and a total of $4,000, the complaint said.

The complaint notes some of the drugs were packaged in small baggies.

Rivera has been charged with a felony count of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of controlled substances, marijuana- small amount personal use and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rivera was arraigned on Wednesday before District Judge Patrick Lowrey and placed in Venango County jail with bail denied due to being on state parole.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Central Court.
