The Venango County Fair will once again auction off a quilt during the fair livestock auction as a fund-raiser.

This is the 10th year for the quilt auction, and each year different people enter blocks into the fair during the quilt block contest.

The next year’s quilt is made using those blocks.

This year’s quilt is made of 100 percent cotton, and its colors are bright pastels. The quilt features black sash work with a butterfly motif.

The quilt will be displayed in the Foster Bullock Hall up until the time of the auction on Friday, Aug. 7.

Barbara Gross, who takes care of the quilt and is responsible for putting it together, said she and the quilt volunteers have raised between $500 and $1,100 for the fair during each auction.

Private viewings can be arranged prior to the fair.

Any absentee bidders who want to place a bid on the quilt can call Gross at (724) 290-3783.
