A Reno boy is in intensive care after family members said the bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Walnut and 3rd streets in Reno at 3:16 p.m. Sunday.
The boy’s grandfather told the newspaper the vehicle and the bicycle collided as the boy traveled down 3rd Street. The boy was not wearing a helmet.
The boy was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh by STAT MedEvac with skull fractures, a subdural hematoma, facial fractures, two broken ribs and a broken femur, boy’s grandfather said.
“If the hematoma doesn’t get bigger, they will do surgery to repair his femur,” he said.
STAT MedEvac was assisted on scene by Reno Ambulance, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Community Ambulance Services and Franklin state police.
