Rig goes off embankment, no one hurt

No one was injured Tuesday evening after this rig missed a turn into the industrial pull off near the entrance to Two Mile Run Road in Sugarcreek Borough and the trailer went off an embankment. The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, and Sugarcreek police Chief Bob Wenner said the driver of the truck, which was hauling about 76,000 gallons of caustic acid, missed the turn into Borchers at 240 Two Mile Run Road. When the driver tried to turn around at the Coon and Fox Club, the trailer went off the embankment, causing the tires on the right side of the rig to lift, Wenner said. Rocky Grove and Reno volunteer firefighters also responded, and the scene was cleared at about 10 p.m. “We’re lucky that we have all those people that come to work these kinds of things,” Wenner said.
