State beautification contest open to students

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has announced its annual Litter Hawk Youth Award Program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, encouraging environmental stewardship and creativity. This year’s theme, “Celebrate America250 — Keep It Beautiful!,” honors the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Participants can enter projects by grade level: posters (K–4), essays (grade 5), or videos (grade 6). First- and second-place winners will receive certificates, while all participants will get recognition and a Litter Hawk sticker. Entries are due Jan. 31, with winners announced April 2 during an awards ceremony at the Pennsylvania Capitol. More details and entry forms are available at keeppabeautiful.org.
