Structure fire breaks out in Emlenton

A structure fire in Emlenton had multiple departments battling the flames late into Friday evening.

The fire was started in a residence in the 100 block of Main Street around 5:55 p.m. said Emlenton fire department assistant fire chief Barry Louise.

He explained that the structure was a two-story building with a residence on the top floor and a garage used as a vehicle repair shop on the first floor.

He added that the fire started on the top floor of the building and quickly spread to the roof.

One resident was home at the time the fire started, the assistant chief said.

Multiple fire departments were dispatched to assist, initially Knox, St. Petersburg, Parker and Clintonville were called to the scene.

Additional man power was from Seneca, Perry Township, Bruin, Chircora, North Washington, Rockland and Calensburg fire departments.

Emlenton Ambulance was also on scene. Pine Township fire department was on stand by.

Louise said the structure was a total loss, but a cause of the fire had not been determined.
