Traffic delays expected during Oil City parade

From staff reports

Delays in traffic are to be expected along West First Street in Oil City on Thursday evening during the joint Oil City-Cranberry homecoming parade.

West First Street will be “semi closed” from Penelec to Central Avenue for about an hour during the parade, Oil City Police Chief Dave Ragon said, and that the most important thing for people to remember is to watch for children along the parade route.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. near Penelec and ends at Central Avenue Plaza, where a bonfire and pep rally will follow the parade. Central Avenue will be closed at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Trucks will be detoured up to West Second Street and then down Wilson Avenue to Route 62, Ragon said. There will be no parking on West Second Street that evening.

Ragon said anyone parked along West First Street on Thursday evening who must leave will have to do so before 5:30 or wait until after the parade.
