James “Jim” Anderson of Franklin will celebrate his 90th birthday on June 27. The youngest of five children, Jim grew up working at his family’s greenhouse but gravitated more toward repairs and woodworking. At just 16, he built a hydroplane boat, later raced a Ford coupe at Tri City Speedway, and eventually married Camilla Krepp in 1957. After an injury on a construction site, Jim opened Anderson’s Cabinet in 1960, building custom cabinets for homes and churches across the eastern U.S. for over 50 years. He was active in the Masons, a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church, and a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan. Jim and Camilla have two children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He now lives at Sugar Creek Station and welcomes birthday cards from the community.
