From staff reports

The Venango Youth Choir will perform a Christmas concert at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Good Hope Lutheran Church at 800 Moran St. in Oil City.

Children in the youth choir have learned to play recorders, Orff and percussion instruments. They have also practiced singing techniques during the weeks of rehearsals held for the concert.

Many traditional Christmas songs from other lands will be featured in the concert, including “Soal Cake,” “The Friendly Beasts,” “Silent Night,” “African Lullaby,” “Hydom, Hydom” and more.

The choir has 24 students in third through eighth grades.

Beth Orris, Julie Kosker and Linda Vogt are the directors, Aiden Herrell-Ward is a student director and Mike Parsh is the community director.

The chorus is an outreach program of Good Hope and Zion Lutheran churches. A freewill offering will be collected at the concert to help fund the choir.
