Vision Bowl slated tonight; participants can still sign up

From staff reports

The third annual Vision Bowl sponsored by the Venango County Association for the Blind will be held tonight at Seneca Lanes, and it’s not too late to participate.

Priscilla Earhart, the executive director for the Blind Association, said Wednesday that any individuals who want to bowl can sign up and be paired with a team at the event.

Anyone who is interested can call the Blind Association today at (814) 676-1876 or show up at Seneca Lanes when registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

The fundraiser benefits both the Venango County Association for the Blind, which serves Venango, Clarion and Forest counties; and the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.

The purpose of the Vision Bowl is twofold – to raise awareness in the community of visual impairments and services the Blind Association offers and to raise funds to help the agency meet the various needs of its clients. The agency has also expanded its group activities to include access technology classes, support groups and life skills classes

Each team will bowl three games tonight. The first two games will be regular, and the last will be a vision-impaired game in which players will use simulator glasses that mimic various eye diseases.

Registration will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and bowling will begin at 6:30 p.m.
