Warmer weather is on the way this week, a welcome respite from the almost-incessant snow and ice that hit the area through most of December and over the holidays.
Today, the high is set to reach freezing, 32 degrees, but starting Tuesday the high temperature will be above that mark, and daily highs will remain above freezing in the 40s during the week, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a chance of rain on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as Tuesday night, which is forecast to remain above freezing all night with a low of 34 degrees. Temperatures, however, will dip below freezing tonight and Wednesday night.
As more snow flurries rounded off the week of winter storms on Friday, two UPS delivery men made their rounds through the snow piles and slushy roads in Oil City, and noted it had been a bad-weather year for holiday deliveries.
“It was bad in comparison to the past few years,” Justin Mosher said, although it was “worse years ago.”
The delivery men have been carrying around traction strips and cat litter in their vehicles to put under their tires in case they were to get stuck while making deliveries, he said.
