Ever since the founding of Cranberry Area High School’s World Language Club (WLC), members have chosen to complete at least one community service project per year. This year, WLC’s act of goodwill was to collect donations for cats and dogs in local animal shelters in honor of Love Your Pet Day and Valentine’s Day.

Students, teachers, and community members were asked to assist WLC in this endeavor, and a large amount of donations were brought in. As a result of the campaign’s success, WLC was able to donate to both Precious Paws and Venango County Humane Society. Hannah Niederriter, Makayla Struthers, and Jeremy Hacherl delivered the items to their destinations in the week following the end of the project.

Shannon Sturdevant, an adviser of the club, stated, “We’ve never done this before, yet we’ve had a bunch of participants despite it being a new project. It didn’t just go in our building. There were interested people in our community that wanted to help the pets.”

WLC is already planning the next way that they can make a positive change in our community, so keep an eye out for their future service projects!
