Pre Prom Prep

Just like most of the other dances, Oil City High School’s Junior Exec Club is already focusing on how they are going to get ready for prom. They already have a set date for when the dance will take place, May 6, 2022, at the Moose Club.

There are many things to get ready for prom like what is the theme going to be? What decorations should we get? When will we set this all up? To answer one of these questions, the Junior Exec Club is going to be setting up all the decorations and doing the final plans the day before prom.

Getting everything ready for prom isn’t the only worry, the girls and guys going to prom is something else that people worry about. I asked Jacob Hornbeck if getting ready for prom is something that guys worry about. He said “The only thing that is stressful for them is asking the girl to the prom, making sure they pay for the flowers, and tickets, but they do not really worry about the getting ready part on the day of the dance” because, in his words, it takes him “like 30 minutes.”

But girls worry about absolutely everything. Where are they going to get their dress? When are they going to get it? Will they have a date? If they have a date, will the colors and flowers match the dress?

If girls are nervous about finding a dress and where they should go, don’t wait until the last minute. You could go to multiple different places to find dresses, for example, The Winner in Sharon, though it is kind of an expensive store. If a less expensive option is needed, visit Windsor in Erie the Millcreek Mall. There is also David’s Bridal in Erie.

If you are a guy and you still need to find a suit or a tuxedo, you could go to Amazon and find something there, or visit Bon-Ton in Erie a local suit rental business.

Some people might think that people spending a lot money on a dress is ridiculous or that girls are overdramatic about finding the right dress. But for girls, and maybe even guys, going to prom is an exciting event for them. This could be the only time someone could dress up and feel really good about themselves.

Finding the perfect dress and color and getting your hair and nails done, or finding the perfect suit or tuxedo, or the right shoes are what helps make the night special and makes the girls and guys feel good about themselves and gives them an opportunity to make memories with their peers, especially in high school before they all separate into the real world.
