New Route 8 lights in Sandycreek to be turned on soon

From staff reports

New traffic lights at the intersection of Route 8 and Pone Lane and Route 8 and the Polk Cutoff in Sandycreek are expected to be turned on in April.

Work to complete the electrical hookup at each location is scheduled to take place starting April 12. Once complete, the warning lights at Polk Cutoff will be turned on to blinking mode.

At Pone Lane, the traffic signal, including the new dedicated left turn light, will be turned on and the existing lights turned off simultaneously.

The current lights will remain in place until the 30-day test is complete for the new signal system.

Motorists should be alert for temporary lane restrictions near the intersections during portions of the electrical and removal work.

The contractor is IA Construction of Franklin. The contract cost is $3,095,777.77, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
