Numerous brush fires reported over last couple of days

Firefighters from Venango and Clarion counties battled a number of brush fires Tuesday and Wednesday in the dry, warm conditions across the area.

Here is a rundown of what was reported to the newspaper by 911 personnel from Venango and Clarion counties:

Venango County

A brush fire broke out at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday on Congress Hill Road in Sandycreek Township. The scene was cleared at about 1:05 p.m.

Another brush fire occurred on Scrubgrass Road at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and the scene was cleared at about 3:50 p.m.

There was another brush fire at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 5927 Route 8 in Irwin Township.

And yet another brush fire occurred late Wednesday afternoon along Route 322.

On Tuesday in Venango County, there were brush fires in the area of 440 President Road in Pinegrove Township, in the area of 523 Williams Road in Scrubgrass Township, on Bully Hill Road in Sandycreek Township, in the area of 211 Witherup Road in Clinton Township, and on Big Oaks Road in Franklin.

Clarion County

Clarion County 911 reported a brush fire at the intersection of Piney Dam Road and Canaan Lane in Monroe Township at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and the scene wasn’t cleared until about 5 p.m.

A call for a brush fire at 174 Kline Road in Ashland Township came in at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday and that scene wasn’t cleared until about 4:45 p.m.

Another brush fire at 20608 Route 322 in Clarion Township came in at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, and the scene was cleared at 4:30 p.m.

And yet another brush fire was reported at 1437 Route 66 in Porter Township at about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, and that scene was cleared at about 3:05 p.m.
