Silver Cornet Band offering summer junior program

The Franklin Silver Cornet Band is offering its Junior Silver Cornet Band, a summer outreach program geared toward youth musicians in eighth grade and younger who have at least one year of instrumental experience.

Musicians will complete four rehearsals before performing during the Silver Cornet Band’s concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at Bandstand Park in Franklin.

The rehearsals will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 10-13, at First Baptist Church in Franklin.

The director of the junior band is Daniel Cartwright, middle and high school band director for Oil City Area School District.

Participants in the program will practice music for the concert while enjoying snacks, games and meeting students from other schools.

A registration fee of $25 is requested but can be waived if needed. Registration forms can be obtained by emailing the band at franklinsilvercornetband@gmail.com or by going to the band’s Facebook page.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 28.
