2 waive hearings for selling cocaine to informant

Two Oil City men accused of selling crack cocaine to a confidential informant in January waived their preliminary hearings Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Franklin state police trooper Bradley Wolak said in a criminal complaint that he was advised by the informant on Jan. 12 that Sheridan Lawson, 71, was selling cocaine from his residence at 215 State St. in Oil City.

The informant went inside the residence and Lawson reportedly told the informant he needed to make a call to his supplier, and that he would be coming in five minutes, the complaint said.

Wolak then observed a light-skinned black male, later identified as Timothy Wolf Jr., 19, enter Lawson’s residence, the complaint said.

The informant went back inside the home and came back out with two plastic bags containing cocaine after being provided with $100 in state police funds, the complaint said.

Wolf was seen leaving the residence and the informant confirmed he was the same man who handed them the bags of cocaine, the complaint said.

Lawson has been charged with one felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and one felony count of criminal use of a communications facility.

Charges against Wolf include two felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, one felony count of criminal use of a communications facility and a misdemeanor count of intentional possession of a controlled substance.

Both Lawson and Wolf remain free on $25,000 unsecured bail, and their charges will be bound over for further proceedings.
